Late Summer Maternity Session in Bend, Oregon

Late summer gave us the perfect evening for this beautiful maternity session in the Central Oregon mountains. We headed to Soda Creek, just outside of Bend, Oregon, where the Cascades were showing beautifully in the distance and the landscape had started taking on those warmer, end of summer tones.

Soda Creek is such a gorgeous location for maternity photos because it brings together so much of what makes Central Oregon special. Open mountain meadows, water winding through the landscape, pine forests, and incredible Cascade Mountain views all come together in one location.

For this session, we kept everything relaxed and natural, allowing this expecting mama and her partner to walk together, hold hands, connect, and enjoy this time before their baby arrives. I always want maternity photos to capture more than just a beautiful baby bump. I want them to document the relationship, anticipation, and emotion surrounding this chapter of a couple's life.

Maternity Photos with Cascade Mountain Views

Mountain maternity sessions are some of my favorite sessions to photograph around Bend, Oregon. When the Cascades are visible, they create such an incredible backdrop without taking away from the people being photographed.

Late summer is especially beautiful in the mountains around Central Oregon. The grasses begin to turn golden, the landscape becomes warmer and more earthy, and the evening light can be absolutely gorgeous.

Of course, mountain conditions in Central Oregon can change quickly. Weather, wildfire smoke, and visibility can all affect whether the Cascades decide to show themselves. This particular evening everything came together beautifully, giving us the mountain views we were hoping for.

Soda Creek Maternity Photography Near Bend Oregon

Soda Creek is one of the beautiful outdoor locations available for maternity photography near Bend. I love having the ability to create several different looks without needing an overly complicated session.

We can photograph along the water, use the open meadow, incorporate the forest, and take advantage of those expansive mountain views when conditions cooperate.

The landscape also works beautifully with neutral and earthy wardrobe choices. For this session, the browns and warm tones complemented the late summer landscape perfectly and allowed the couple to feel like part of the scenery rather than competing with it.
